Brian Pearce, the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) chief economist is retiring from the organization in July 2021. Pearce joined IATA in 2004. Since then he has built IATA’s evidence-based economic analysis capabilities into an authoritative source of insight on aviation’s global performance. He also serves on the Association’s strategic leadership team. Pearce is also a visiting professor at Cranfield University’s Department of Air Transport and has been on panels of expert advisers for the UK Airports Commission, the UK Department for Transport and the International Civil Aviation Organization. Before IATA, Pearce was director of the Centre for Sustainable Investment at the Forum for the Future, head of global economic research at the investment bank SBC Warburg in Tokyo and then London, and Chief Economist at Ernst & Young’s economic forecasting consultancy.
Hermes Logistics Technologies (HLT) has appointed Marcus Campbell as its new chief technology officer (CTO). Campbell brings over two decades of technology experience to the role and has worked globally with companies including Sony, Oracle, Deloitte, and Accenture, and has experience within telecoms, retail, fintech, insurance, and shipping industries. Most recently he was head of architecture for UK-based youth charity The Prince’s Trust. Campbell replaces Alex Labonne.
Logistyx Technologies has appointed Jit Kulkarni as chief financial officer (CFO). With more than 18 years of executive experience in various financial roles, Kulkarni was most recently vice-president of finance and accounting at Kyriba. Before Kyriba, he served as head of finance and accounting at Protegrity.
The Steering Committee of the International umbrella organization of Marine Environment Protection Associations (INTERMEPA) unanimously elected Joseph Hughes (North America MEPA chairman) and Semiramis Paliou (Greece MEPA chairwoman) to act as chairman and vice-chairwoman of INTERMEPA for the following two years, while Sadan Kaptanoglu (Turkey MEPA chairwoman) assumes the role of former chairwoman.
