Lineage Logistics makes a second Canadian buy

Earlier this month, Lineage Logistics – the world’s largest temperature-controlled industrial REIT and logistics solutions provider – closed on a deal to acquire Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec-based Marc Villeneuve Inc.

The acquisition marks an additional entry into the Canadian market after Lineage first joined the region in July of 2020 with the acquisition of Ontario Refrigerated Services. When the acquisition closes, Lineage will employee a total of 150 people in Canada.

Located in a suburb of Montreal, Marc Villeneuve Inc. is a cold storage distribution service that has distributed ice cream products for Canada’s oldest family-owned ice cream company, Chapman’s, since 1992.

The Montreal facility was built in 2000, and was expanded to double its storage capacity a few years later. Its energy efficient and environmentally friendly CO2-based refrigeration system, aligns with Lineage’s objectives of transforming the food supply chain while eliminating waste.

As a result of the acquisition, Lineage will now have a direct-to-store distribution service in Quebec and will add 6,800 additional pallet positions to its global footprint.
