Nova Cold breaks ground

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia: Nova Cold Storage is expanding operations.

The company broke ground on a new 5,575sqm (60,000sqf) building in the Atlantic Gateway-Halifax Logistics Park. Once completed, the cold storage and transloading facility will be able to store 5,500 pallets of frozen fish and processed food. Construction costs are expected to be $9.5 million.

“Our new facility will exclusively offer companies 100 percent cold chain security because the loading bay doors are constructed to open inwards so trailers and containers can be loaded and sealed inside 50ft refrigerated docks,” said Barry Smith, president of Nova Cold Storage.

The Logistics Park is serviced by five major highways and is within a 10 to 15 minute commute of the international Port of Halifax, Halifax Stanfield International Airport, and CN Rail’s intermodal yard.
