C.H. Robinson launches BidBoardX digital freight platform for carriers and shippers

C.H. Robinson has launched BidBoardX, a digital freight tool designed to connect carriers with longer-term committed freight opportunities while giving shippers broader access to capacity and more consistent service.

The global logistics provider said the platform is intended to address long-standing inefficiencies in the market, where both carriers and shippers have often relied on fragmented spot-market transactions to meet overlapping needs.

“C.H. Robinson works with carriers of all sizes that have different needs,” said Adam McDonough, vice-president for capacity at C.H. Robinson. “Small carriers want consistent, predictable revenue opportunities, while mid- to large-size carriers want to optimize their networks. With BidBoardX, they get direct access to the opportunities that best fit their business needs, including local or short haul, dedicated freight and our Drop Trailer Plus and 4PL programs. That’s how we connect unmet supply and demand and create significantly more value in the marketplace.”

Committed freight refers to higher-volume, planned shipments with defined schedules and expectations, such as recurring loads between two cities over a set period.

C.H. Robinson said BidBoardX brings together its network of 450,000 carriers and 75,000 customers, managing 37 million shipments annually, by creating a centralized digital marketplace where certified carriers can search, bid on and track freight opportunities.

The company said carriers will be able to use advanced search tools to identify suitable loads, participate in bids of varying sizes and develop longer-term relationships with shippers rather than relying solely on one-off transactions.

C.H. Robinson said the platform is also intended to reduce friction in the procurement process, while maintaining oversight from its logistics experts to help ensure appropriate matches between carriers and shippers, including compliance with safety standards.

“The carrier market has long been built around fragmented, transactional decisions,” said Michael Castagnetto, president of North American Surface Transportation at C.H. Robinson. “What we’re doing with BidBoardX is creating a more structured, network-driven approach that helps carriers build their business with greater stability, while giving shippers more dependable outcomes. At our scale, that is the kind of improvement that can drive meaningful impact across the supply chain.”

BidBoardX is available now through C.H. Robinson’s carrier platform.
