FedEx has launched Global Trade Navigator, a set of digital tools meant to help businesses handle international shipping requirements earlier in the process. The company says the tools give businesses clearer information on duties, taxes, documentation and customs needs so they can improve shipment data and reduce problems at clearance.
FedEx says many small and medium‑sized businesses struggle with duties and taxes, with 68 per cent reporting customers are often surprised by duties at delivery and 60 per cent losing revenue through refunds or abandoned purchases. The new tools are designed to move trade information earlier in planning, shipment preparation, checkout and reporting so businesses can make more accurate decisions before a package is shipped.
The suite includes several new capabilities. Trade Planner will offer free guidance on fedex.com, including Harmonized System codes, estimated duties and taxes, and document recommendations. Updated FedEx Ship Manager tools will let customers review HS classifications, customs values and country‑of‑origin details. A new duty and tax app for Shopify will allow merchants to show estimated import costs at checkout.
Through the FedEx Developer Portal, businesses can integrate product classifications, estimated duties and regulatory information into their own systems. Enhancements to the FedEx Import Tool and FedEx Reporting will help customers monitor clearance activity, identify required actions, manage payments and access import and export data.
FedEx says these updates are part of its ongoing investment in digital tools that make international shipping more predictable for businesses of all sizes.
