New type of freight and courier service offered in BC

A major B.C. freight and courier company has begun offering a new type of freight and courier service from Edmonton, Calgary, Kamloops and the Okanagan to the B.C. Cariboo communities along Highway 97, all the way from
Clinton to McLeese Lake, including Williams Lake and 100 Mile House.

“Our new service is overnight and scheduled,” said Overland Freight & Courier president Claus Jensen. “What that means for businesses and farms in, say, Williams Lake or 100 Mile House, is that they can get a shipment – some
replacement parts, say – from Edmonton or Calgary, or from somewhere in the Okanagan, or from Kamloops.”

Jensen adds, “And businesses will be able to count on regular next-business-day service every day of the week for any size of shipment,from heavy LTL-type freight to hand-held parcels. The speed of business in
central British Columbia has moved up one more notch.”

Jensen says the company’s operations also make it easy for freight to move in the opposite direction, out of the Cariboo. “If you’ve got something that needs to go overnight from any of those communities, such as Williams Lake or 100 Mile House, to Kamloops, Kelowna, Penticton, Vernon, Greater Vancouver or Prince George, we’ve accomplished that service, too.”

The full list of the Highway 97 Cariboo communities that will get the new overnight scheduled service from Overland Freight & Courier includes,starting from the north and moving south: McLeese Lake, Soda Creek, Williams
Lake, 150 Mile House, Lac La Hache, Forest Grove, 108 Mile House, 100 Mile House and Clinton.

Overland claims to be the only B.C.-based transportation company to integrate its courier services with its freight. It moves everything from heavy freight to hand-held parcels on regularly scheduled services throughout most of British Columbia, Central Alberta and the Pacific Northwest in the United States.

Overland focuses on delivery speed along regularly scheduled routes. The company has a considerable amount of freight-moving equipment in British Columbia, including a new route between Prince George and Edmonton.

Overland’s specialty is to move overnight shipments that take up less than a truck load, known as LTL, and couple it with courier service, but Overland also provides a wide range of specialty trucking services, such as full load, messenger and hot-shot services.
