The Lion Electric Company received mHUB Chicago‘s Manufacturer of the Year Award at the 2024 Fourth Revolution annual celebration, which recognized manufacturers, hardtech startups and organizations for being innovative and focusing on economic growth. Lion Electric now has more than 1,850 zero-emission vehicles on the road, which have accumulated over 22-million miles of real-world operation throughout the U.S. and Canada. The company opened a 900,000 square-foot facility in Joliet, Illinois, in July 2023 that is the largest all-electric U.S. manufacturing facility dedicated to medium and heavy-duty commercial vehicle production. To date, Lion Electric has invested over $100 million in the state of Illinois.
Air Canada and CAE announced the eight winners of the 2024 Captain Judy Cameron Scholarships. The scholarships to women from across Canada who are pursuing careers as commercial pilots or aircraft maintenance engineers. The four CAE recipients training to become commercial pilots will become CAE Women in Flight program ambassadors and play a key role in encouraging more women to pursue careers in aviation. Hyster Company‘s Hyster H40-70A forklift series is a winner of the 2023 GOOD DESIGN Award. The configurable internal combustion engine-powered forklifts are the first in the A Series, which offers ergonomic features, a low total cost of ownership and technology engineered to help reduce tip-overs. The H40-70A models, which are available with 4,000-to-7,000-pound lift capacities, are designed around a singular base configuration derived from direct feedback from operators, managers, technicians, safety coordinators and other professionals. GOOD DESIGN honours the yearly achievements of the best industrial and graphic designers and world manufacturers for their pursuit of extraordinary design excellence.
