Sideloader manufacturer Baumann has appointed MacFarlands Industrial as its official distributor in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Prince Edward Island.

Established in 1963, MacFarlands has premises in Dartmouth, just 10 minutes outside Halifax, and Moncton, New Brunswick.

Sideloaders are designed to carry long loads on a deck, on uneven ground and over greater distances, leading to a growing number of enquiries from Canadian lumber, metals and extrusions businesses.

“We are delighted to be bringing the MacFarlands team on board,” said Gary Chapman, president of Baumann Canada. “Baumann is a trusted manufacturer globally, but we are a relative newcomer to Canada. MacFarlands has the experience and understanding to deliver excellent support. We value long-term partnerships and believe our customers are best served by committed distributors that understand the products and mechanics well.”

Three distinct divisions, MacFarlands Industrial, MacFarlands Material Handling and MacFarlands Truck and Utility offer equipment from leading brands including Doosan, Wacker Neuson, Genie and Versalift, amongst many overs.

“We are very excited to be able to offer the Baumann range to our customers,” said MacFarlands Industrial president Fred Hnatiw.

“The Baumann emphasis on support, reliability, product innovation and long-term relationships give us a great foundation from which to build.”

The company designed the world’s largest sideloader, the 110,000lbs (50 tonnes) capacity GXS500 in 2019 and also won the Fork Lift Truck Association award for Innovation, for its Archimedes screw outreach system, one of the most significant developments in sideloader design in 40 years.
